Growing up on acres of beautiful perennial
gardens, rock gardens and English-inspired stone
walls in Connecticut my parents introduced me to
the art of gardening and design at an early age. I
was always drawn to the senses of the garden;
texture, smell and the beauty of the rock
formations my father created with his own hands.

In early 2000 I went to work for a Boston based
landscape architect. It was at this firm where I
spearheaded their container gardening and
holiday decorating business.

Over the next few years I restored historic
gardens while working for SPNEA (Historic
Properties of New England) and the Codman
Estate in Lincoln, MA. My winters were spent
working full time for a floral designer and I did
interior plantscaping for commercial clients in
Boston.

In the summer of 2002 I hosted a garden tour at
my property in Ipswich, MA and launched Garden
Designs by Kristen.

I have been featured in the Boston Globe
magazine and have appeared in a televised
segment of “People, Places, Plants”.
